Nicola discovered Pilates in 2001 and was amazed at how quickly her balance, flexibility, strength, and coordination improved. Inspired by the changes in her body, Nicola pursued Mat and Equipment Teaching Certifications through The Kane School of Core Integration (now called Kinected) in NYC, one of the most distinguished training institutes in the US. She taught at Erika Bloom Pilates before moving to North Carolina 2009. In NC, Nicola taught at the award-winning studio InsideOut Body Therapies. She also co-created the Pilates program at Duke University and taught there for six years. Through her tenure as a Pilates teacher in NC Nicola cultivated long-term relationships with many clients, including several in-home clients. Since moving to Berlin in 2016 Nicola has continued teaching Pilates and enjoys occasionally practicing her German in classes! Nicola has worked with the young, aged, healthy, recovering, active, idle, prenatal, postnatal, experienced, and inexperienced. Throughout, Nicola has maintained her own Pilates practice and continues to find inspiration in all that it offers!
I teach because I love sharing the joy of movement. I believe passionately that the best way to feel better and improve our lives is through empowered and supported movement. My teaching style combines classical Pilates repertory with a contemporary understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and an individual’s needs. I strive to meet my students wherever they are, without judgement or expectation. That being said, I do like to push my students to find new and deeper sensations and movements! As a dancer, I have experienced many different techniques and approaches to movement. I often incorporate these styles, including contemporary dance, yoga, Gyrokinesis, Feldenkrais, and Klein Technique, into my teaching.
